EPA to weigh regulating common plastic as hazardous waste

EPA may finally classify a commonly used plastic as hazardous waste, following a long legal struggle with advocates. The Center for Biological Diversity said this afternoon that it has reached a deal with EPA over polyvinyl chloride, more well known as PVC or vinyl, following a decade of back-and-forth. Australia Tyre Export Ban Rules

Australia is the first country in the world to ban exports of its unprocessed waste to other countries. From 1 December 2021, new laws mean that the ban on waste exports from Australia will extend to tyres. EPA to regulate certain types of `forever chemicals` in drinking water in 2023

The EPA on Monday released its strategy for addressing a type of cancer-linked chemicals called PFAS, including its plans to finish a rule to regulate certain types of PFAS in drinking water in 2023. China publishes five-year plastics pollution plan

China published last Wednesday (15 September) a five-year plan outlining the nation’s strategy for tackling plastics pollution. The plan will see China’s recycling capacity expanded, alongside the promotion of ‘green’ plastic products. The plan also presents commitments to combat the overuse of plastics within the agriculture and packaging sectors. Additionally, and more contentiously, an increase in incineration volume is outlined.
